Our Goal
The ASCENT Lab’s mission is to advance the field of personalized medicine for speech motor-impaired populations (specifically, adults who stutter and individuals with neurodegenerative diseases) through multimodal measures (e.g., neurological, physiological, behavioral). Our goals are to (1) inform differential diagnosis and (2) motivate the development of individualized treatments/technologies.
Biomarker Development
Developing and validating acoustic-based biomarkers for informing differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases.
Responders and Non-Responders to Therapy
Identifying subtypes in adults who stutter that may influence response to therapy.
As we “ascend” this challenging mountain of research, our dedication to interdisciplinary collaborations and cutting-edge methodologies propels us toward more personalized care for those affected by speech motor impairments. Ultimately, we want to create a path to a summit where every individual’s voice is heard and understood.
